http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4531891673&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1 Anybody know the history of this car? I see Pinnacle has been trying to sell it for almost two years now. What's up with the magic marker Manufacturers plaque? Is that from Amerispec or whomever did the DOT conversion? Is it normal that it is in magic marker? I spoke w/ JR @ Pinnacle and got a bad vibe. Either a) not very knowledgeable about Ferraris or b) Pushy salesman BS. Either way not good. I spoke w/ FOH & also got a bad vibe on Pinnacle although they would not come out directly and say so. The car looks nice but my antennae are up. I would like to get a reliable PPI done but am having difficulty finding someone in the Houston area to do one. FOH no longer does them. Any help is appreciated. John Burke [email protected]
Car was discussed in an earlier post. I called on this car months ago ,talked to JR , and was to be sent further info. No info, Called again ,same promises , no info or calls back. I still wait by the phone, hoping beyond hope that one day my pleas will be ansewered, or maybe I'll buy a different car.
FOH and JR don't exactly like each other (Don't know why so don't ask me). JR is very knowledgable about these cars. I've not seen it but a few guys I know say the car is immaculate. Try Ferda at Vintage Motorcars. PM Big Tex, he knows the car and Ferda.
David, did you call me looking for a boxer? Someone did, and I have lost the number. If it was you, my apologies. Also I might have a lead for you. Dale
This is the best advice yet. John, JR has some history with just about everybody in town and Rob Lay of F-Chat. The best bet here is call Ferda or Danny at Vintage, and let's close this door as quickly as possible. Dr "Looking over shoulder" Who
FWIW, I bought my Boxer from a private seller in the Houston area in early '04 and Ferda had done a lot of work on the car, including the PPI I had done before flying out to see the car. Stand up guy, knows his stuff and right on regarding its condition. From all I can gather, JR is a good guy and very helpful on these boards, but with a used Ferrari, trust but verify is the name of the game and I would get an independent assessment. FOH only does PPI's if one has an inside connection, based upon my experience of being denied one.
Just one more vote for Ferda to do a PPI for you. I had him PPI a 328GTS at RPM and he gave me a really thorough report. Cheers Kevin
Well you've got about 10-new enemies in Houston who were lusting after that car but could not afford it...lousy SOB...I think I'll stop by Ferda's shop and slip him a $100 to FUBAR the leakdown results...
Look at the interior of this car...now does that look like 6800 miles. I smell..............ROLLBACK Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rollback hell, I know for a fact the pictures have been touched up !!!! better run from this one..it's a lemon for sure.. probably a flood car!!! Just kidding, we're all green with envy.
Boxer interiors dont last too well, especialy in the sun. My car came from Arizona, I have the history from day one, and I can tell you these interiors dont wear well, especialy the dash. The red car interior looks genuine to me.
John B ; your going to let us know one way or the other, right ? Too much speculation on this car, not too many facts.
Ferrari logo missing from gas cap... not sure how hard that is to find but the original radio will be a PITA to find.
It sold on Ebay. Ya don't see that very often. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4531891673&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ADS%3AUS%3A28
Which one of you rats snagged my car out from under my nose? The PPI checked out pretty nice but the car had no service history with it. The belts were loose so I was factoring in an engine out belt and tensioner service. My plan was for it to flounder to the high 50's low 60's on Ebay then to buy it for $68-70.
No scent of cheese on me. Whoever bought it a 76k overdid it. One less buyer, one more fixer on the market.
