Hi All Can anyone kindly tell me what the difference is between the above cars to drive? I really like the rarity of the M and its quirky looks. I think they only made 500? But the TR is classically much prettier. There is a nice M in Europe that I could go for. Then there is any number of over-priced TRs as well. Are they good to drive though, how would they compare to a 550 for instance. Which I always found a little dull. Especially the noise. Thanks in advance.
Hi Friend ... a car called TR is a Testarossa, not a 512TR. The 512Tr and the 512M drive the same imo, just the looks ... I would never own a 512M ... But I love my 512TR having it now 4 years and 20.000 km's extra ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I hate to say .... but the M looks like a clown car, totally over done, just like a 25th Countach is to the Lamborghini. The 512 TR IMO is the best of the line.
For all practical considerations, no diff between 512TR and F512M. Numbers (HP/TQ) got boosted < 3% (421->432, 360->367) at the same RPM, so unlikely you'll feel it. Motronic 2.7 for both means same UX. The M did shed 130lbs. M is rarer (500 vs. 2280). Both VERY different than the original TR.
Hello All, I would point out that the 512M has the solid differential and a stronger quill shaft plus a few upgrades to the engine and the transmission. I think both are the same to drive but at least with the 512M you have a reliable drive train with no upgrades needed. I think that is also why they cost more. I think the 512M is better looking in black because the headlight area blends in more.
Agree with both points here -- I was responding to the initial question. BTW, there was a black M for sale some time back with smoked headlamp covers. Boy, what a difference! It made the whole front end sleek again.
Simple 'fix' for something I've always disliked on those cars. Good idea, would like to see that. I don't want to fan any flames but the wheels are also - to me - less attractive than the 512TR wheels. But they are rare as heck, and will probably always pull more dollars.
