I've a little problem with my 512TR when it rains - if I have the aircon/blower set to fully cold everything is fine, but the cabin does get cold, so if I increase the temperature at all I seem to get a blast of very humid warm air which fogs the screen.

I've seen similar before in cars where the dryer filter hasn't been changed, and suspect this may be the cause, so can anyone confirm if the filter in the 512TR is the same part as in the testarossa (located in front trunk) - Eurospares don't list a filter for the 512TR, but do for the testarossa.

Alternatively does anyone have an alternate theory to the cause of the fogging? I generally think the air con unit works as it blows some very cold air when required.

Actually I found the part on Eurospares, part number 62655500

However it says "Not for GD" - anyone know what that means?

Also I'd still like to hear some confirmation that this would help the problem of the moist air blast?

Have you made the five resistance checks at the 6-pin connector described on pages I38 and I39 in the 512TR WSM? I'd start with that...

Do you have the 512TR WSM Greig, look in part 2 ... ?

Steve, good tip to have a go at the WSM .... you have to learn to work with this valuable document, not just keep it in the cupboard ;) !

I think you mean the fat printed temps on page I39 ? These values are the info that goes IN the control unit here ?

Yes, but page I39 is for the 1-to-2, 1-to-3, and 1-to-4 resistance tests. The 1-to-5 and 1-to-6 tests are given on page I38.

Anyone can download the 512TR WSM from www.ferraridatabase.com (select "The Downloads", then "Workshop Manuals" -- the 512TR AC is as the start of Vol 2).
