    is there an easy way to stop carpets from creeping forward when driving...hope to stop fast tickover !!

    More idiosyncrasies of the TR
    In my 94, there are what appears to be factory nautical type fasteners on the rugs, I have no mats..and they appear to be original..

    On my 92 , the mats that came with the car had a 2 inch by 10 inch piece of velcro sewn to the mat and a reciever 2X 10 sewn to the rug..
    I have since replaced mats in 92 and have that exact problem,,when they creep forward they hinder depression of the clutch pedal and raise the idle..very annoying!

    Factory corrected that by 94.

    In my 86 tr there was a wire that made a loop from the front seat bolts to the bottom of mat where the were secured to the welting , or bound edge of mat...
    You had to remove seat bolts to take the mats out...

    Hi, what I suggest is using some 3M spray glue on some velcro strips. Atach the hook side velcro to the carpet with the other pile side attached to it. Put the spay glue on the back of the pile side. Let it set up for 5 minutes to get tacky. Put your carpet in the position you want and push it in to place. Once it sets up, you can peel everything out if you want to.
