    my trusty battery finally died after about 5 years. i have never replaced the battery, and really dont want to go to the dealer for this small thing. so was planning to just buy a new battery (any tips as to type are appreciated), and drop it in myself. however, before doing so i thought i better check in with the fchat data bank to see if there was anything special i needed to watch out regarding engine management systems or alarms etc.

    I think the 512's are the same as the TR. You should replace the batt with an Optima Red Top. I would turn the knob above the batt compartment to shut off the power before changing. It took me about 10 min to replace mine a few years ago.

    i m w/ adam here....
    installed optima red in my 512tr....and was happy w/ it.
    whenever in doubt, ask william "the 512tr lord"
