What a shame.....very sad loss of human life.

Amazing how the pictures show the car intact on this compared to the Enzo or newer fcars that split....even the 360 that heatly was in split.

    RIP

You need to know what you are doing in a 512TR at speed, she doesnt suffer fools gladly. If you dont know what you are doing the tail will come out so fast you can barely catch it.

exactly, its something you REALLY Dont want to do in a 512TR at speed

I highly suspect that the driver was in way over his head & let off the gas & that was it

Yep!! I totally agree. I'm sooo glad I had the opportunity to take my car to the track to learn that valuable lesson. The natural tendency is to keep on braking and turning if you are going in too fast, but that's a dangerous combination.

It’s funny, people feel bad that this guy died, but if we were driving like this he would of taken us to jail for driving the way that got him killed. He put himself above the law and thought he knew everything about driving fast when he probably only drove a cruiser in straight lines at high speeds. The car got loose, he had limited or no track knowledge of a TR and he took someone else with him, and since the other guy wasn't smart enough to say something either....well....I have no pity.

The man was a police officer and even more a CHP where they catch people at ridiculous speeds all the time on the freeway. If he was a teenager driving a modified Civic the public would freak out screaming stop street racing but because it’s a police officer in a TR it’s sad ?!?!?!?! I find it a disgrace to the PD and on top of it all…..in a residential area ?!?!?!, if he would of killed a mother and her child taking a walk people would think differently about this idiot. Im sad for their families…..that’s it….no child deserves to lose a parent.

Ever heard that people do have a lot of money and still work?? Some inherit money, or have a wealthy wife or good financial background, and still go to work. After all, a 512 TR is not that expensive at all. It's all relative, of course.

I've met many Peace Officers who are car enthusiasts....the motorcycle escorts to the Art Car event are always cool, a surprising range of age and background.

Give it a rest....they are usually pretty well trained drivers also...

R.I.P., is really all you have to say.....a sad thing, indeed.

I agree, cops make a good salary after a few years experience, not great but good. Now cops get to do serious overtime because of the shortage of officers, as well as security jobs on the side that pay very well because the companies do not want to hire cops fulltime because its too expensive (salary for experience and benefits) but like to have them part time for special jobs that need to have people who know what they are doing and not just a rent a cop. Now, everyone have different priorities in life some wish to have a 400K house, and drive an 8 year old Jetta but some others are content in having a 200k house and have a really nice sports car.

Some people love to travel and spend half their salaries on overseas travel and are just fine in living in an apartment.

Now as far as being pretty well trained drivers, yes I do seriously believe that they are but with a cop car , they are not even close to the experience needed to drive a mid engine exotic car with that much power where the center of gravity is less than half the height of a cop car.

Here are some stats on cop car performance testing, if anyone cares……

    Ferrari 512tr crash..

Location Aguora Hills. Just wait till the city of Aguora Hills post new signs. And have a police officer with a radar. At every damn street corner.. Or will the (NHSTA) recall all testarossa for new standard crash tests?? All I can say is. His gone now.. It does not matter any more. Lack of skill or for any other reasons unknown at this time. Or he thought he was a master driver since he had Performance Car training. Provided by the CHP. CHP is not GOD. Just because they wear tin can badges gives them the right to speed.
    Enough said
