    Hi all,

Does anyone know catagorically if the ECUs on a 512TR are the same worldwide?
I ask this becasue it looks like Euro cars (and HK cars as well) don't have the Check Engine globe fitted in the dash.

If that is the case, I am just wondering if that is all, or the ECU really don't have drive capabilities for this warning light, compared to the US cars.

My 512TR Spare Parts Catalog shows the same part numbers for all 512TR's worldwide for the ECU, ignition coils, power module, oxygen sensors, exhaust thermocouples, and the catalytic thermocouple electric box. The wiring harness from the ECU's is different on the U. S. cars, probably because the U. S. version has the test boxes with push buttons.

The section showing the dashboard and instruments is a little hard to decipher, but it appears a warning light panel is the same for U.S. and UK cars and different for the rest of the world.

that's ok with the push buttons, as they are connected to the OBDI connectors anyway.

I am a bit concerned witht the dash though. I know the bulbs are not there, but the Check Engine logo/writing can still be seen. Just not sure if the wiring to them exists I suppose.

AS I understand it the worldwide ecus are the same. The deal is with obd laws in USA. The added switch to trigger the check engine light is a diagnosistic tool required by federal law obd1 and 2 not beacuse 4re like USA owners. Even if there were differences you can rip an eprom chip with a chip burner and make your car function exactly like any other with a new chip assuming the rest of motor internals and accessories are the same. Those in the know can do it for an initial investment of 100 bucks and then 5 bucks a chip.
