I am in desperate need of a 'used' 512TR front fog light so if anyone has one or can guide me to whoever has it would be very much appreciated.

I was worried about the same thing so I tried the Griott's product this year. I made a template cut from a manila folder for one of the fog lights and if you turn it over it works for the other light. I applied it rather hurriedly as I was going on a road trip, so I could have done a better job. Nevertheless, it looks good. Arguably, it looks better than without it as the clean new plastic covers any minor pitting that you may have on the glass of an older fog light. It is fairly thick stuff so I think it will do a good job for most minor rock impacts. Plus it is cheap and if it fades and needs to be replaced it is no bother to redo. If you measure your fog lights correctly it should only take one sheet for both lights at a cost of a little over $20.00. I just used a mister with water to wet the surface of the fog light before applying and then pressed out the air bubbles and water with a plastic card after applying the plastic.

Does this mean that with this plastic I can buy the new fog light and stick this thing on both fog lights to eliminate the difference in old/new condition look?

It just might, depending on the condition of the old light. I put it on two fog lights of similar condition and it improved their appearance. Whether it will bring your old one up enough to pass it as new is probably expecting too much, but it might bring it up enough to make it indistinguishable at five to ten feet or more away. It is hard to say for sure without trying it. If you are up for a $20.00 experiment let us know how it turns out.

Here are some pictures of the lights on my car, including a close up I just took in my garage. However, in neither of the photos are the lights particularly clean. (Sorry I couldn’t get a better angle, but I didn’t want to back the car up and wake up my wife. She thinks I am crazy enough already. I don’t want to build up her case any more than I have to)
