Hello, I started the engine the it idles around 3000 rpms. When pull the throttle linkage it goes down to normal 1000. Any ideas? Maybe the Spring that regulates the idle…
Suggest you post this in the appropriate TR sub-forum to get feedback from folks focused on that model.
I think the linkage cable to the pedal, try lubricating it from interior side and check engine bay side as well.
I have disconnected the throttle linkeage from the levers moving the throttle bodies. Doesn’t seem like thats the issue.
Where are you disconnecting the throttle linkage?: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/diagram/ferrari/512-tr/016-throttle-control-not-for-gd- And can you still forcibly move the not-disconnected throttle bits back to a lower idle RPM as you reported in your original post?
Exactly. Like the Spring that rotates the opposite direction to pressing the gad pedal is not strong enough to keep the throttles closed. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You didn't really answer my question, but, if it's just a case that frictional drag is preventing the throttle shafts from returning to their idle stops, there are many sliding ball-and-socket joints that should be cleaned and relubricated occasionally. It would never hurt to spray some lubricant if you can into the throttle shaft bushing/bearings, and the pivot arm, item 29, is shown mounted on two ball bearings, items 27, so something else to check that it rotates freely. And, finally, in addition to the springs on the throttle shafts, spring 26 is important for returning the linkage to idle as you noted -- might check to see if it's broken or somehow detached. Good Hunting!
