Looking at the 512TR on eBay for $225k that was imported into Canada from Japan? What are your opinions of the value of a car like this if I buy it and import it to the U.S.? Is the value the same or less than a regular U.S. Spec. car? The dealer calls it a 'Euro' spec.? Has a JAP in the center of the VIN#?? Thoughts?

With escalating values, and rarity of the model, a 'good car' should bring a shrug of the shoulders...

It will effect maintenance and some part numbers...

And tons of paperwork at the border.

In the old days North America was considered one Ferrari market, by spec.
That changed by the time this car was made.

You probably should consult some international dealers, maybe even get your local Ferrari shop involved, as they will know the ropes.

Aren't Japanese Testrossa significantly less expensive? Hard to get a proper history of the vehicles.

I live in Tokyo and I own a J Spec 512TR. They frankly are more like the Euro spec ones and in my humble opinion better than the US ones. No silly annoying motorized belts. 2 less cats to remove. There is only one importer for all of Japan for Ferrari. Cornes is that dealer. Do not fear a Japanese spec car. Prices have only just started to skyrocket and catch up here. I am trying not to look as honestly it is making it less enjoyable to drive quite frankly. I have always been told it is tough to import into the US unless the car is 25 years old. After that it is not terribly difficult.

If it is over 25 years , the price will not be the same , it will be a lot higher to match the US and European Markets .... Canada has the 15 years rule instead.
