Im aware of the following mods to increase acceleration and top end - ECU REMAP, SPORTS EXHAUST, CAT REMOVAL. Im also looking at swapping the stock airboxes for BMC Carbon Fibre Airboxes which I have been told should fit with a bit of fiddling. Is this possible? The stock airboxes are a fair bit wider then the BMC's. ARE THERE ANY OTHER MODS I CAN DO?

As far as 512s: 1.Tubi headers. These replace the precats/exhaust headers on the stock car and are much more free flowing then stock, since the precat is removed. When I get an M I am going to get a tubi header, test pipe, exhaust setup for it.

    2.Weight removal:

Get a pair of sport seats out of another ferrari, same color interior. The sport seats are CF back, and a bit lighter then stock.

In fact anything plastic can be replaced with CF to make it lighter and stronger. I am doing this to my 328GTS. It is not that expensive, considering how much say a tubi costs etc. PM me if you want to discuss this further.

    3. Driveline M upgrades:

See if you can source some parts out of an 512m. Driveshaft for one. You can always get the complete engine too from http://www.eurospares.co.uk/

Talk to 512Proffessor. He knows the cars far better then I.

I second the Twin Turbo suggestion. Tubi, remap and the like do not make noticable improvements (seat of the pants dyno). If you want a day and night difference say more than double your horsepower to the rear wheels then Twin Turbo is the only way to go. Drivability is the same until you get on the boost, then be sure that the car is aimed and smile.

Tubi, removing the cats and a proper tune will get you 450-475 HP. If you want to go beyond that I think you will have to take a hard look at your drive line. I doubt the stock trans will take much more HP.

I am running just over 600HP on the rear wheels and have not had any driveline problems. Do not expect to... unless you are abusive with the clutch the drivetrain should do fine.

keep in mind that major mods, ie turbos, tend to decrease the value of the car...also , it has a deleterious effect on engine and drive train longivity

The TR Flat-12 has proven itself to handle twin-turbos very well with proper mods. Numerous tuners have topped 1000 BHP and at least one reached 1180 BHP about 5 years ago!!! Be prepared to spend the value of the car itself on the mods/tuning though............

If you want to get serious & keep it a road car I would suggest strengthening the trans, Brembo F50 brakes, You'll need some nice 18" Kinesis wheels for these, they are also lighter than stock, OMP reclining sport seats & harnesses

    William H,
thats a pretty mad looking 512 uv got there. Do u think I could get a pair of BMC Carbon Fibre Airboxes to replace the stock ones? Check www.bmcairfilters.com and tell me what u think. Would I get a HP increase from them?

Never heard of them, we have K&N air filters in the US & the filters that fit the 512TR are the same as fit the Jeep Cherokee :) I am sure they help a little with HP & probably drop the RPM where the power kicks in a few 100 rpm

CF airboxes woul be very cool. I have stock airboxes in my 512TR but I had them coated with heat reflective paint which keeps the air cooler

A good trick I did was I removed the meter long intake trumpets that are nestled under the rear fenders & I wrapped these up in fiberglass heat reflective blanket which also boosted the hp a little

I Dynoed my road car at 460 hp at the flywheel

The race 512TR has around 500 hp & weighs 2800#

You can always have them made...it is not THAT expensive considering how much parts are for the car.

I think I may have asked this laready - when you put the harnesses in your road car, how did you go through the bulkhead to secure them? Drill and cut? Or is there a way to secure a harness to the ineterior without punching 4 X 5 inch wide holes through with all the heat issues around the belts?

Well, you can take out the set of stock boxes, and have a rep. dealer make them out of CF. Make them freeier flowing, and paint them with good heat reflective paint. Site sponsor Valance should be able to do that.

It would be 4 or 6cyl for the Cherokee, only the Grand Cherokee has a 6 or an 8. I think the airbox on the 4cyl and 6cyl are the same though.

I have looked into fitting these on my f512m which is the same filter as the tr but there is a risk of damageing the air flow meter as you have to oil kn filters and it sucks the oil down the system to the airflow meter
