Would you buy a 512TR with 45k miles? The car is mint except for the milage.
The big question is what is the car worth. If a 25k mile car is worth 75 then how much of a deduction is the extra miles?
I just noticed one popped up on autotrader. 39k miles for $60k, seems like a better deal than the one I'm looking at. I call them, they forgot to mention in the ad the car has a SALVAGE TITLE ! Can you say 30% deduct.
Here it is on ebay: Ferrari : Testarossa 512 in Ferrari | eBay Motors If your interested contact the body shop that did the work. I am sure they will remember the car and extent of damage and have the record of the invoice that shows the work. Personally I am not a fan salvaged cars (too many unkonwns), but totaling can often be a simple matter of moderate damage on a very expensive car, flexible/ lenient adjuster, and a hefty diminished value payout if it's a factor. I am not saying this 512TR falls into a minor accident catagory, but I had a fender bender on a Lexus that took out a grill, 1 light, bent the hood, minor interal components, front bumper (overall nothing structural) and was given the option to total or fix it. It was so lightly damaged I couldn't fathom totaling an otherwise near pristine car, which recently had new tires and a service so I fixed it. Here it is 4 years later and it sits in my driveway looking and driving just fine. It could have been a title branded car that buyers were saying not to touch.
YES ! As an owner I rather have a 512TR with miles than without miles ... Far more interesting are service records and gearbox number (= repairs). I even don't care about ABS yes (1994) or no ABS. 435K is no problem if the rest of all maintenance is known (or owner or maintenance man is known) imo.
Yeah the salvage title car is way overpriced and will not sell at the asking price. Hey GregTE, are you up near Blue Hill Maine by chance? I used to live up in Maine for business and I remember seeing a diablo VT near Blue hill back in 09 or 10
