I noticed that the top part of my radiator has a small leak.

I plan on just pulling out the radiator and having a local radiator repair shop fix it.

Anything special? Anything to be aware of?

    normaly absolut no problem.
but when you take out the radiator it would be good to remove the upper and lower case to check the radiator itself inside if all is free. if not just replace this "net" or how you call this??? I put in a stronger ( the size of the single water tours are bigger ) net with still the same old covers top and buttom. but this would be good to change then both sides.

Had them booth out...corners of the top tanks had small leaks on booth sides...and now back in. Not the most fun job but it's done.

The passenger side was easier than the drivers side. Cost was $131 USD.

on a side note, the thermal switch at the bottom of the driver radiator was the wrong spec. That is why the fans were coming on higher than 195.

    Now everything is great!

what year is your 512TR? there are different issue radiators, the earlier models had radiators with copper upper and lower manifolds and copper core, the later models had manifolds out of plastic, with only the core being copper.

what exactly did the repair shop do?

    sorry...just saw your question....

I guess it was all copper. At least I know they were all metal and the radiator shop just redid the welds.

All has been great with this since it was done. If I pressure test the system, I have no leaks. ;)
