Took a picture of my 512TR front rotors .... thickness ist still O.K. Question: how serious is this ? OEM rotors are frightfully exepensive IMO. One driver mentionned to get Mercedes AMG rotors and "drill the holes a bit wider" .... This is not really what I want; anyone tips of possible solutions Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dont worry thats not bad at all Also forget stock 512TR brakes, they are mediocre & very expensive. You can buy much higher quality rotors & pads from www.porterfield-brakes.com I'd suggest you get slotted NOT cross drilled rotors so you dont have to worry about cracks & you have a larger swept area
Great you wont be sorry. I suggest you install more agressive pads in the rear as it helps anchor the rear under high speed braking. I know this from experience Image Unavailable, Please Login
O.K ... I love that silver arrow of yours ! And yes, that will certainly help us ... we do sometimes drive over 300 km/h on the Autobahn... Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can buy OEM discs directly from Brembo. I bought mine from Brembo, i bought Porterfield pads, and everything is good and less expensive than from ferrari...
Dank Onno ! It seems not to be seriuos yet William / Hubbster, Porterfield mailed that they don't have the rotors for 512TR/M anymore ... strange isn't it .... ?!? Geoffrey, thanx... please contact me with a short mail: I would like to have Brembo partnumer and supplier. Gr from Mel in NL(Europe) [email protected]
Thats a shame about Porterfield If you go w Brembo ask them about their F50 kit for the the 512TR. I have them on my race car & my road 512TR and they are fantastic
Melvok, would also try Tar-ox kit. They are located in Italy. Ask for Mrs Valeria (she does speak English). Kits are available in many different size/combinations. Have them on my Testarossa and am very, very pleased with it. Best Gianni Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
WOW ! Those are some wide-a*s rotors !!! Which particular model is show in the picture? I could not find those ones on TAR-OX web-site.
You could also consider having the replacement rotors hardened to extend their life (reportedly, it can double it). I use www.300below.com. So far, I'm pretty pleased, and I can't say that I've noticed any deterioration of performance. They charge by the pound. CW
@Juri For whatevere reason the Ferrari kits are not selectable from their web page. Anyhow, my kit is the KMFE0235, with 330 x 30 front rotor and B32-10 calipers. There are several other possibilities up to 360 x 30 rotors and several calipers possibilities depending on the rims size and the clearance available between caliper and rim. They also do rotors in the original size to be used with original calipers / pad. You can have them drilled, baffled, or conbination of the two. For several kits they have the TÜV certification which is needed in many European countries to have the mod inserted on the car papers. Since my TR is a single nut wheel, one does not really get much choice in terms of upgrade kit. Have them on since couple of years now and issue whatsoever. Here a pdf of an old catalogue with Ferrari kits. It is NOT up to date. Best Gianni Image Unavailable, Please Login
