The currently available Bridgestone is a good tire but not great in rain. And getting that is questionable. The best all weather choice right now is probably the Continental. Its a good tire. Have driven on them in a few cars. All weather tires in Texas is not a bad thing.

Lack of availability of tires for older performance cars is starting to piss me off.

There’s a Continental extreme Contact sport 02 that is a max performance summer tire (not like the all season one you referred to)
That is a pretty good tire and direct competitor to the Michelin pilot sport 4S
And it has also a very good price
Around $1,200 for all 4 at tire rack

I did not refer to an all season. I was speaking of the tire he selected the Sport SO2. He and I live in south Texas and have little need for studded snow tires but we have great need for tires capable of coping with rain in a quantity you have never seen. In our world all season means rain. Lots of it. The sport SO2 is very good in rain.

It is a very competent tire and actually better than the pilot sport 2 which is now pretty dated. It competes against the Michelin pilot sport 4S

My apologies, then we are on the same page and the S02 is a very good tire.

I'd be a little careful about the low wear rating of 340 on that (maximum summer performance) tire -- great for maximum dry grip on a track, but it's not going to last very long. I opted for the (all season) Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus on my restomod just to get the higher wear rating of 560 (and it has the same AA traction rating and A temperature rating as the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02). JMO, but you maybe have different priorites.

30,000 miles and 6 years warranty for the max summer continentals, (15k miles for rears as you can’t rotate them to the front) but that means the rubber is designed to last a long time, a lot of people would replace the tires due to age before running out of rubber.

I think treadwear has gotten way better nowadays.
(Original Michelin Pilot sports and Pirelli Pzeros were terrible)

Both of the Conti's referenced are good tires.

I used them on my 456 as they were the only viable/quality option (IMHO) for the OEM 17s on that car. Great tire. Needed to run a lightly higher pressure than the comparable Michelin but great tire.

The all-season conti's also referenced I use on my wife's daily driver. Great thread life. WONDERFUL in snow and rain. Great braking. Works wonderfully in cold (from below freezing to 50F, the range your typically summer tire dramatically falls off). Overall its a great all-season tire but definitely lower limits (in terms of absolute grip) than the extreme contact summer tires in the summer.

I currently use Bridgestone RE71rs on my 512TR on OEM wheels in OEM sizes: Comically insane levels of grip, steering precision, and braking. I have to struggle to make the tires break traction...VERY stiff tire and loud tire...NVH is dramatic vs even the old dry rotted/stiff as concrete Pirellis I had ...not a plush/comfortable tire with very short tread life.

i bought the continental extreme contact sport 02's

i am not tracking the car. i have so many cars to drive that i probably wont put more than 1k per year on this car so wear rating doesnt mean much to me since they wont wear out before they age out.

One thing that could've caused some confusion about this (like in a magazine article) is testarossa and (early) 512TR both being called "Testarossa" -- like in your first fitment guide picture. Just a thought...

Did you forget the 365 GT4 BB? ;) Wasn't blaming you -- just pointing out how when things go from a manufacturer in one language to another language then on to an Author writing a magazine article, etc. things put down in print can sometimes get a little mucked up.

I have Michelins on mine - PS5 on the front and Super Sports on the rear and I couldn't be happier.
