Having chased down a new shift knob myself recently you will find the prices vary wildly from vendor to vendor. Here is the best I found... just watch how they ship.

Nose to nose with her younger albeit larger sister...a modified 1990 XJS

During restoration we added a TWR body kit; I made the grille out of chickenwire from Home Depot, painted gold... and to think 5 years ago I couldn't even spell 'inelegant'!

The reason I don't do V-12's anymore... marvelous engine, modified here and there during rebuild including my homebuilt Pep Boys induction system. Impossible to work on, many skinned knuckles... awesome performance however.

As requested, the 308 next to her fellow Italiana, a 1984 Maserati Quattroporte III, my daily driver.

The Maserati engine... if you've never driven one youre in for a real treat... opulent land-yatch handles like a sports car... and fasssssssssssssssssssssst. Under that plenum chamber are 4 dual throated IDF Webers any early 308 owner would be very familiar with.

Superformance.co.uk sells the A/C plate under the "Badges" section of their 308 parts. That's at least one source for them.

Hi Steven, love the cars!! Seems like we have the same taste, we also had a 1988 Jag XJS V12, sold it and went through a handful of QPIIIs, now we have a silver 1986 Quattroporte that shares the garage with my 84 308 QV.

    indeed
good ones are getting rare but when you've found a solid one, few cars exceed them. Modern day Quattroportes don't even come close.

I just received a Jag V-12 - for FREE! I can understand the concerns around skinned knuckles...there is literally NO room in the engine compartment.

Posted a pic in the Brit section. Good luck with all your toys!

Very cool, Steve. Enjoy the new ride!! You might try GT Car Parts for the AC plate. I've gotten some obscure pieces-parts from them for my 328, and he often has those bits sitting around from cars that they are parting out.

And I understand about the V-12. I owned an '89 XJS coupe for many years, and it was a PITA to work on. Unbelievable how much crap Jaguar squeezed in there. Even worse was a 1972 XKE that I owned (see the yellow Jag in my avatar). It was the early Jag V-12, with 4 Stromberg carbs rather than fuel injection like the XJS. Balancing 4 carbs, each feeding three cylinders, was impossible. As soon as I bought my '70 XKE with the straight 6, I decided no more V-12s for me, and sold Mellow Yellow. I keep it in my avatar because it was my first XKE, and to remind me to stay away from V-12 engines.

This may be sage advice I need to follow :)

And here I was concerned with my E-Type (straight 6, 3 SU's) and my Datsun 240Z (straight six, 2 Hitachi SU clones)...I since sold the Datto, but ended up with a 308 and now my XJS V-12.

    Why couldn't I just have a Corvette? :)

Maybe because XJS looks better, handles and brakes better and with a 5 speed would outperform a Corvette of the same vintage :)

LOL then you'd do what I did. Buy the one Corvette with a unique engine, just to keep that "impossible to get parts" experience!

And hooray for the GTBs! Congrats on a beautiful car! Also love the QP and I really want one, but my wife would kill me if I bought another car right now. Still getting the evil eye over the 'vette.

I have had three XKE's if I remember correctly and a slew of old sedans.
    The Jag V12 is not a "Jaguar" it's a ***** cat.
