As I said, no 96s available...at least, in Canada & the U.S....Red/black should be do-able, but it's tough to find a 550 for sale period, much less one in colours you prefer. Since I became F-car aware in 2004, I have only seen 4 for sale that were in the local GTA area...mine, the high Klm silver at Vascos old place, a black 98 at F. (at least 2 + years ago), and the last one at Autoforum...which didn't last too long. 575s seem to be all over the place, funny, since they made fewer of those...I'll let you reach your own conclusions there....most likely not different enough from the 550 to justify their higher price tags?? Also, you need the FHP on the 575 to make it handle like the 550, otherwise, some say it's too "floaty". In the States, particularly on E-bay, there are alot more 550s for sale, some at great prices...but you know the story, you get what you pay for, and the lowballers are probably hurting cars. Not sure what it would take to get a 550 in the US and import it here...but I doubt the dealer is gonna make it easy, especially if some parts are involved....$$$$ I agree, a 12 cyl. GT car would be a nice compliment to your growing fleet....you'll just need some luck finding a good one that meets your needs. Also, don't rule out that 456 they got at F....it's a manual 2002!
Im fairly certain it is Red/black...not sure what red type. Also, not sure it's for sale. Just a mutual freind of ours who has a crap load of hot cars!...lucky bastard!
I think you are correct, i may have to go 97 Red/black has to be, so i got time i can wait. I now the market seems thin on the 550 here for some reason, but i got time THe 575 i heard it was a floaty car unless you got that upgraded suspension package. As for the import Steve, cant do it, jsut something about that doesnt sit right with me. I need to buy a local or CDN car. As for the 456, forget about it...cant go that route, it would look horrible in red/blk ...i dont think they even made any in that color ..did they ? I think Steve i made up my mind and will pursue the 550 to the stable....now i just have to wait 3 yrs to find the red/blk with all the books, records, to go along with it.
I think they are both cool cars, but in my mind, 550 is more presentable anywhere. You can really use it as a daily driver. 550 is superbly balanced (not that CS isn't... ) far cheaper than CS. I think 550 is quite reasonable to get work done on as it is front engine (in case you need help from any shop, people will still help you just because it is a front engine car. with 360, no chance) I don't know.. both totally cool cars, but for the value, and for the sound when you turn the key, the V12 starting sound is enough for me to choose 550. and you know, you can always twin turbocharge your 550. You can send Mr.Hayashi from the tuning shop here to there. He will be happy to work on your car. (or maybe send it over to Japan? Probably cheaper. He will make you a car that will beat most CS for the price difference I think. Jean Todt at the 60th anniv. celebration in Asia(forgot where... I think Jakarta) drove this car and said "I have never driven faster ferrari(I think he means by production ferrari)" so... that shows something. btw, he boosted it to like 1.5bar, which should be making over 1000hp. lol.... he overboosted and broke the head, though.(now fixed)) I just feel that you get so much more in a 550 than a 360.
I sold a perfect, low miles 360 6-speed after two months of ownership - simply hated it compared to my previously owned 550, and have moved back to the 12-cylinder - this time to an 04 575M. My other ride is an 07 Porsche 997 Turbo and I've simply become 'torque addicted'. The 360, in my opinion, has to be driven like you hate it to (a) feel any sort of performance, and (b) to make it sound like anything other than a honda accord engine in the backseat. Your mileage may vary, but spend some time in a 12-cylinder before pulling the trigger on a 360.
Exactly, these attract two completely different buyers; One engine loves to rev whiile the other provide oodles of torque, Short wheelbase vs long wheelbase, One has a high percentage of first time Ferrari buyers the other is more old school, repeat buyers...
Just FYI...go to the site www.gtaindetail.com , it's the site of a local detailer who does a great job on my cars (and quite a few others from F-chat and NSXprime). As an aside, you might want to consider him for that, but the reason I mention the site is he takes pictures of his clients cars once they're nice and shiny, and 1 of his customers has a Red/black 550...first Ive ever seen of one in the GTA. Check out the pics, I'll ask him about the car next time I see him.....
Thanks Steve, the only red/blk 550 ive seen is in our hood bayview/sheppard/finch area back in the early 00 '01, havent seen it for many yrs now. I wonder if its the same owner ? if you find out let me know....thanks.
