    Hello to all ferraristi

The curse has come back after 6 months of peace of mind.
The orange suspension light is back on.
I have done the usual stuff :
    - switched car off to reset computer
    - checked both red heads in the front, untangled the wires
    - put all back in place, making sure nothing is in the way of the heads

Alas still the light stays on.

I guess this comes from the rear suspension. Is there a way to check them ? anything else I could do before taking the car to the dealer ?

Thanks for your ideas and suggestions.... this suspension thing is a real plague !!!

If you have checked your front ones..and the shock adjuster is not cracked inside the motor, or the adjuster itself on the top of the shock. Check to see if they are functioning. Remove the actuator and have somebody turn the ket to the furthest "on" position. Look inside the actuator. You should see and hear the gear inside moving in one direction..then the other direction and then stop in the middle someplace. If both front units work..check the rears aswell in the same manner. The rears you go through the trunk to get to.

    You sure about that??

On the several cars I've checked, I had a look in the "trunk", and decided it was far quicker to just drop the top shock mount from under the wheel arch.

Takes about 10-15 minutes each side.

My mechanic designed a fix to what seems to be a design flaw on my 2000 550, (Prestige Autohaus in Walnut Creek CA 925-937-5400), designed and milled a part that fits between the front shock cup and the actuator, he then replaced the actuator, and it has not moved a millimeter since and the warning light has not come on. He produced additional parts.

I had susp warning light and, these responses are correct. The Red actuator cover houses the gear on the top of the shock. There is a small pin holding the gear in place. This pen weakens the gear drive and will over timne, tend to destroy the gear itself. The warning light will come on when this failure occurs. My replacement of the shock, did not remove the warning light. So despite the actuation working properly, I'm told by Ferrari this has to be re-set at Ferrari. Unfortuniate, because this shouldn't have been more than a $50 problem.
