My air conditioner on my 2000 550 has not been working so I started evaluating it today. I noted that the low pressure side was too high and the high pressure side was too low. Then I noted that the compressor was not coming on. I took off the passenger side air box to look at the compressor pump and found that the green and white wire going to the clutch had been crushed and severed about 4 inches from the junction but can not for the life of me find the other end that attaches to it. Does any one know what route the green and white wire (which I assume is the positive lead) travels after it leads back from the compressor? Do I need to get under the car and take off the belly pan to see? Thanks in advance.

It would either travel back to a multi-pin plug, relay or to your climate control panel off the thermostat, possibly all of the above too in series ;)

    Good luck :D

Completely different car I know, but when I removed the aircon system from my 83 Mondial the wires from the compressor fitted into a plug on the wires coming from the dipstick sensor, this might be of help.

Can't find it yet. I guess I am going to have to put the car on the rack and pull the belly pan off to see if it routes under the exhaust system. I thought I smelled some thing burning a few months back on that side.

Problem resolved! I took off the belly pan and found it. For those of you who might come across this problem in the future the wire comes off the main harness running along the passenger side engine block (oil sump) below the exhaust header. My wire broke because it was rubbing against the frame of the car where the engine motor mounts are. Hopefully it won't happen again as I used a zip tie to keep it clear.

I also found a lot of debrie in front of the driver's firewall where the mice had been nesting in the past. That is what I think had smelled in the past.
