No kidding. I just noticed that asking prices for nice Barchettas are now close to 300k! If you are looking for a limited series in a "modern" Ferrari the choices are slim if your price range is modest (ie: under a new 458). Barchetta, 575SA, CS, and 16M are your choices. The Barchetta is the clear standout for something that feels special in a crowd plus it's a manual. Glad to see them on the rise! I bought my 1270 mi example in 2010 and I wondered why this car never got any love.
Never owned one but should have - great looking cars and low numbers (built) - good recipe for climbing values - also a spider - that helps even more
The typical cycle for a car that might become special is the first ~1-3 years it will be very hot. Then from years ~3-10 it will cool off as its no longer the flavor of the month. Then around year 10/11 you will see if the market warms to it. I think the Barchetta Pininfarina will likely go up from here. Not only is it beautiful and a Ferrari (something many cars out there are), its also limited production and if I am not mistaken the last time Ferrari actually numbered the cars. The lack of the roof is both a pro and a con. I think on balance, as the lower mile cars become more collectible, its a pro, because it makes the car different. I've had the pleasure of actually driving one and it is everything anyone who likes to drive could want. Its just a joy to drive and you don't even have to push it, its about the love of being out on the road with the wind in your hair. And when you push, it is a Ferrari after all...... Prediction: the love will come back to these
