I'm trying to charge my battery and can't get anything, no clicks when trying to start, nothing. I'm assuming it's a negative ground car? I hooked the red to the red terminal and the black to a bolt nearby. I tried to hook the black to the battery and the charger beeped at me. I'm guessing that was wrong... Any help, thoughts?

When you charge the battery both terminals needs to be conected. If the battery is dead dead then you need a new battery.

I keep a smart charger on my car constantly every day and night.
The security system and electric clock and whatever else runs off the battery are enough to slowly drain the battery a little each day. It is really beneficial if you do not drive your car regularly.

If you need a new battery I hear the Optima is much better than the Interstate.
Just make sure you get the right one with the posts reversed to it fits. I think it might be a 34R model.

    Gary,

A couple of years ago I bought an optima battery only to have die in a week or so,
I took it back and they replaced twice ( free of charge) before I settled on the
Interstate, which is still going strong. Since then I attached the smart charger

I think Optima was bought by someone and the quality has never been as good since then. The Interstate batteries that fit the Maranellos are both heavy duty truck designs and Ferrari owners have had very good luck with them. The one in my car works like a champ and I never put a charger on it unless I am goiing to be gone 10 days or more.

I could not get the correct Optima so ended up putting in another Interstate. it has worked well and I too keep a smart charger on my car all the time.
My problem is I don't drive the car enough. I think I took it out of the garage two times last year.

    That is a crime!

Get your butt out there and drive her every week! No excuses. She's not that precious.

Just to clarify, I'm not that dumb! I meant the two cords from the charger/jumper. I got a new battery, Interstate.

    Thanks!

The older I get, the lazier I get.
When I put it in the garage, I put the charger on it and then cover it with its fitted cover and then on goes 6 quilted blankets so it does not get dinged. It's a hassle covering and uncovering it and anywhere I take it I always worry someone is going to throw their door into it and dent it.
This past year I have had to leave it open wherever I took it as the locks have not worked.
Now I plan to use it more as at least I can lock it.

I had an interstate die, and installed an Optima, and use my underhood battery switch to turn off access to the battery when I park it for more than a week. Been going fine since then.
