JUST GOT THE CAR BACK FROM THE REPAIR SHOP, LOW AND BEHOLD, THEY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND FORGOT TO RE-SET MY RADIO,, WHAT APPEARS IN THE DISPLAY WINDOW IS "WAIT" I LOOKED IT UP IM THE MANUEL, AND IT SAYS TO WAIT 1 HOUR TO RESET ITSELF AND THEN PLUG IN THE CODE... DOES THAT MEAN LET THE CAR / IGN ON FOR 1 HOUR?? OR SHOULD I HIT THE DISCONNECT SWITCH FOR THE BATTERY AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL RESET IT?? ANY HELP GUYS WOULD BE GREAT THANKS, BRUCE
It means someone tried to reset the code wrong too many times. If you have the code # just let the car sit until tomorrow and enter it.
Bruce/Carbs: sorry I couldn't be of more help. If yuo have the code in the owner's book, good. If you don't, that's going to be a pain in the ass. Maybe Brian has some ideas, but from what I understand this will require either a reprogramming or a new unit. --Dan
I had a similar problem with mine, turned on the battery isolator for 15 mins, then back on again, then no problem re-entering the code. Only issue is you lose all your presets on the radio, but no big deal really. The dealer can look up your radio code if you don't have the card anymore from your VIN.
Bruce, I had the same problem with my car one times. Wait one hour means an hour with the car running. Once you have the radio on for an hour with car running than it will ask you to enter the radio code again. YOu will have 5 tries to enter the correct code or it will lock itself again for an hour with "Wait" sign.
DAMN BRUCE IF ITS NOT ONE THING ITS ANOTHER HUH? BTW MY OLD MAN HAS HAD DINNER W/ YER COUSIN A COUPLE TIMES. SMALL WORLD INDEED!

TGIF Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi Sweetheart..... Maybe some Collective Soul if it cooperates!!!! Dam Italians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bruce, you're too young to know this, but the radio in a 550 sounds at best like they did during the 60s, a kind of tinny, scratchy, weak sound. Personally, I like it because it brings back memories. My date car was 60's Oldsmobile station wagon. When you laid down the passenger seat, the back had a lot of room if you catch my drift. Dr "Misty Eyed" Who
The advice I got from Becker was to wait up to an hour with the ignition on. It took 30 mins before I could enter the codes. I did not need to start car though. Although drive really fast for 30 mins would also have worked! Regards, Ron
