I've been looking for upgraded pads for a 550. I've done a search on this and whilst there are several threads, none are definitive. Ferodo imply on their website (Federal Mogul - Racing & Motorcycle Division Online Catalogue) that their FDS998 performance pad fits front and rear. Similarly FCP1298 for their DS2500 pads. However, Ferrari list two different part numbers 70000885 and 70000886 for the front and rear pads, with a sizeable difference in price. I've not been able to find the respective Brembo OEM part numbers yet. I've checked numerous supplier's websites for the Ferodo pads and unsurprisingly they call repeat what Ferodo themselves have said in their literature. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please before I end up ordering the wrong parts!
By "upgrade," do you mean fade resistance for racing and other high-heat driving situations? Formula dynamics has different pads for different conditions.
I have a set new original front pads here. Tese are normal pads, no FHP ! Brembo GALFER 3321 GF 07.6830.10 and 07.6830.20 Hope it helps. Daniel, from the rainy Germany
The brembo part nos are listed in the Ferodo catalog - my recollection is hazy but the difference could be the brake wear indicator connection - there may also be hints of alternatives in the interchangeability listing at the top of this section
Thanks but it's just the Ferodos I am interested in at present. I have run them on a 360 previously and so they're a known quantity for me and readily available in the UK. I have bought some fronts and just need to be sure I get the correct rear. That is helpful. Thanks, Daniel. It is equally rainy in the UK today! Thanks. The Brembo part number in the Ferodo catalogue appears to tie up with a front pad part number. Looking around, the front caliper has a retaining clip and pin set up, whilst the rear has a different form of spring used for retention. It may well be the pad geometry is the same but the different retainer is the reason for the change in part number. However, and this is flaky I admit, the pictures on the Ferrari drawings for the parts show a different pad shape. As does the workshop manual on pages G11 and G12. I've not been able to find an image of a full set of pads laid out together.
Here's the front 70000885: And the rear 70000886: I can't see how Ferodo's assertions that front and rear are interchangeable are correct so I've written to them. However, I was hoping someone has been through this already.
