MY 98 550 suffered from severe brake dust and fairly constant brake squeak. If I'd drive the car even a few miles the wheels would begin to turn black. To clean them properly you really need to remove them for the car, which is a pain. As a result I installed a set of Porterfield brake pads. They are located in Costa Mesa, Ca. Great service, reasonable prices and what a difference! No more squeaks, about a 90% reduction in dust with no decernable difference in brake performance, although I don't track my car so I can't speak to that level of demand on the brakes.

Pads cost about $275 for both fronts and rears. I would advise against replacing just the fronts or rears, if you do it, do them all. Their phone number is (949) 548-4470. They are very helpful and will advise you on the appropriate pad based on your needs.
