I have the opportunity to purchase a 2000 550 and I love the car but I prefer the looks of the 575, and am wondering if it is possible to switch the headlights and bumper over. Has anyone done this yet?

    Bolt on.

To be 100% you would need to replace the hood. The intake is slightly larger. That being said, I prefer the lights on the 550 much more over the 575, and would consider going the other way if I had a 575. I don't really drive my F-Cars at night so I could care less about Xenons.

Has anyone replace the manual transmission with the F-1 from the 575?

Think it'd be smarter to trade in the car toward a 575 if u wanted an F1 swap.

Agreed, do not modify Art to this degree, change the frame, shine some lights on it., restore it if need be.

If you are reaching for the paintbrush, sell it! And by another piece of art you like better.

The price difference between a good late 550 and a good early 575 is now so little - about 20K$ in Switzerland - that I would go straight for a 575.

However, the 550 has the advantage of a much better handling set-up, so the only 575 I would look at would be a Fiorano. But even for a Fiorano you wouldn't have to look too far, before you found a good '02 model for not too much money more than a 550.
