When I bought my 2000 550 the dealer told me that I was better off getting the 2000 model over the earlier years because of some refinements that made it a better car but he was never specific. Are there really any differences between the years that this car was produced (not the 575)? I have seen different radios in the cars but other than that, can't see much different.

ferrari is always tweaking cars during production. the radio is a good example (they went from sony units to becker units sometime around the 98/99 MY switch (if memory serves)). i'm certain they made other changes that are less visible (certainly a trip through the parts catalog shows a lot of "valid up to chassis # XXXXXX" entries and corresponding "valid after chassis # XXXXXX" entries.

but, i am unaware of any material changes made - other than the items that are subjects of recalls (eg: the magnesium wheels, coolant hose clamps) and TSBs (eg: the motor mounts).

i'd be curious to know if there are material differences.
