    Dear all,
Just to end on a happy note, car is up and running with no leaks. I just wanted to thank y'all for your generous support and help during the engine rebuild. It's great to know you are not alone when one has such a tough job to do.
I have learned a lot, mostly the hard way, and am looking forward to some trouble free driving for a while...

Thanks for the postscripts, it was your support and inspiration that kept me going during the difficult times like how on earth do you remove a 550 engine, cylinder liner, head nut, header nut, cam cog wheel, etc. These were the real challenges, such that setting the cam timing was relatively relaxing in comparison.
Just a pity that part prices prevent one from rebuilding as a Stage III upgrade.
    Regards,
    Ron

    Hi Ron

You should be able to give an answer to my question.
Is it possible to change the oil pump chain (you have to remove the front housing) with the engine in the car ?

Next week i want to do this job at my car.

    Daniel,
Interesting question, there is a small inspection cover (2 in diagram) which allows access to see the chain but you cannot slide of the chain or sprockets without removing the main timing cover 17 which means removing damper, front seal, timing cogs etc.

Both the main cog on the crankshaft and the small cog on the oil pump shaft cam can hen be slid off, so yes it should be possible with engine in situ. See 2 photos.

Idea: You could try using a motorcycle chain link remover after removing the small inspection cover 2. Then maybe you dont need to remove anything else? But there is hardly any room to do this see 3rd photo.

    Daniel,
The main reason to remove the engine is when you have to separate the lower half of the block (Sump etc) from the upper half (crankshaft and pistons).
Not necessary just to remove timing cover.
    Thanks,
    Ron
