Maybe, but these guys are usually accurate with what they report.

As far as I know they do have a V12 F40, however it's been listed as having a 6L engine, so not the 550, but perhaps an Enzo engine. I would think the news on that would be substantial, and I really don't know more about it.

Or a 550 engine bored out to 6 litres, would be good to find out more.

You're right, that is probably more likely the case. Unfortunatly, I haven't been able to dig up anymore information.

Weren't the 550LM-575LM's actually 6 liters? My guess is that would be a good place to start if you were looking for a race motor. Lots of power and really reliable.

The 550LM has the same displacement as a stock 550.

    TOWNSHEND,

Actually your wrong. I just checked care racings website to double check because they list specs for the 550's. Prodrive did increase the engine size to 6 liters in the race cars. Thats one thing that helped them get 600hp out of those cars.

    Darrell.

We're both right. I was referring to the Ferrari 550LM that is referenced (as noted by the thread here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33948).

The Ferrari 550 GTS Maranello, that you are refering to..the actual Le Mans one..is listed as indeed having a 6.0L, as well as a 5.8L engine.

speaking of which... i just found out the most beautiful race car of the past few years is retiring from FIA GT racing; no more 550/575 race cars this year...

the good news; there are F430 gt's, and F430 NGT's battling out; and of course the MC12 is really a ferrari...

but that 550/575 really are something great to look at!

Hmmm...is it too early to be thinking about a 599LM/GTS? :D
