    Hello gents,

We have to quote to repaint a 550 front bumper, for which it has to come off the car. I'd like to avoid airbags popping unwanted or disturb any other systems.

Is it a straightforward procedure or are there any particular steps to be taken?

    Many thanks for input,

    Jack.

Though I have never taken a 550 bumper off, I don't think it should be all that difficult. I had a look at the parts diagram for a 550 and there doesn't seem to be anything special about it. http://eurospares.co.uk/partTable.asp?M=1&Mo=374&A=2&B=19886&S=

Here is the diagram for the air bag system. http://eurospares.co.uk/partTable.asp?M=1&Mo=374&A=2&B=19906&S= It seems that all the stuff is in the cabin. However, as I said before I haven't ever removed a bumper from a 550, but after looking at the diagrams it seems that all you need to do is disconnect the lights, unbolt, and remove it.

If it's anything like removing the bumper from a 348 or a 355 you should have it off in about 15 minutes, or so. The 355's have air bags and guys have removed those without issue.

    Hope this helps?
