I am having a hell of a time getting the Union Bolt off of my existing fuel filter. Anyone else run into this? Am I just being too gentle? Cheers, Chris
Try some PB Blaster & let it soak in. Also try to use only a slotted box end wrench as it's easy to bugger up (round off) the soft metal with a standard wrench.
Thanks, brother. Kind of what I figured. Soaked her down yesterday and going to hit it again this afternoon. Even the simple is complicated in a Ferrari!
Those fuel filter fittings seem to be a common problem on many cars. I've rounded them off on British, Japanese & Germans I just looked at the 550 Ferrari diagram and remembered you don't need a split box wrench (or crowsfoot) on one side - it's actually a banjo bolt, and I now remember how I did mine - it was with a normal wrench on the filter and a box end on the banjo bolt, and I positioned them closely enough so that I could squeeze them together, and the banjo bolt came loose pretty easily this way. Still need a split box on the other end tho' and that's the end you'll round off if you don't have it.
