I am a new 550 owner and the inside of my headlamp covers appear as though they could be cleaner, like they have a residue on the inside. Can they be cleaners, I suspect the clear lens is bonded to the painted "floor" of the housing, but I was giving thought to attempting to remove the bulb, and extend a cleaning cloth through the opening.
I would appreciate any advice on this.

Extending a cleaning cloth through the bulb opening will do the job, but it will be very hard to reach the front corners.
I removed the covers of my 550 in the past to paint them. I Used the following steps that I gathered from some Asian cars forums ( on your own risk).

    • Remove the head light.
    • Use a heat gun to heat the side of the head light where the clear cover is bounded to the base.
    • As the glue softens, use a flat screw driver to push the cover away from the base working on one inch at a time.(very messy)
    • Once the cover is out you can clean it.
    • Use the heat gun again to soften the glue at the base.
    • Reinstall the cover pressing it firmly against the softened glue.
    • As the glue hardens it will form a good seal.

Make sure you don’t leave any tiny gaps as this will cause water to leak in and form water vapor spots.
    Hope this is useful.
    Regards.
