550 Key; What is this?

    I purchased a 2000 Ferrari 550 a couple of months ago. It came with two sets of keys, one red fob and one black fob. Each key ring had a small metal strip with a letter and numbers "engraved" on it. Does anyone know what this metal strip represents and what the letter and numbers mean? A picture is attached. Thanks.

    I removed mine straight away in case I lose the key.

    It's the key code used for making duplicates. Put them somewhere safe.

    Looking at the key's troughs is enough to determine the code. Here's a good primer on the subject:
