The lumbar support on my 98 550 no longer functions. It makes noise but the adjustment doesn't work. The dealer tell me I need to replace the complete seat frame to the tune of about $3,500. Also, he tells me the 550 seat frame is no longer available , but he thinks the 575 frame is the same and will work. Does anyone have any expereince with this that they could share? Thanks

If you have a look on the www.eurospares.co.uk website it would seem that most parts are available rather than a complete seat unit so I would probably opt for finding a good upholsterer and get them to strip the seat carefully and then actually have a look at what is moving and what isn't, and replace parts accordingly. As it's going thru the motions but simply getting no movement it sounds like it could be a lost or stripped gear maybe or broken drive rod?? The plus of this is that the upholsterer could refoam the seat and actually make it to hopefully fit your back comfortably rather than the deformed goat ferrari seam to have sculpted it for.

In answer to the question, do you need the lumbar support, imho oh yes, I find it lacklustre and back bending after a long drive with it full on, it would need full on yoga and physio without it, you try doing a c shape for 4 hours! ;) And my back is just fine in pretty much any other car. For a GT car I think they are lovely to look at but poor in function...but I digress as this has been previously commented/moaned about.

Thanks for your reply. My lumbar support is full off and it's not cumfortable. Besides, on long drives it's sometimes nice to adjust it a bit to change your seating position. I'm looking into finding a used seat to get the parts from, but your lead is good also. Thanks again

Now that was funny without being mean:) And the visual "lumber in support" was excellent:)

    Cheers, Hank
