Been trying to replace the carpet under the hood for soundproofing. Is there any specific trick to this seemingly easy job. The 2 vents that come out from the hood have turrets that are substantially larger in diameter than the carpet holes. The metal turrets have rims that are welded on the round intake duct on the hood. Only option seems to be to either cut a slit in the bonnet carpet or find a way of removing the welded caps. Anyone else experienced this. 2) The dreaded SLOW DOWN light. It comes and goes. Sometimes its on all the time and other times its flashing. While driving the car it occassionally has a sudden bolt of power (almost like a turbo) and surges ahead with the light going off. Obviously not something stored on the computer as it keeps going on and off. Car was left unused for a bout 3 months in a humid environment but has since been driven about 200 kms. Thanks
Not sure about the carpet question but I had the same problem with the "slow down" light on my 550. My problem was a faulty ECU on the catalytic converter. I had both replaced at my dealer, parts and labor just north of 1k
1) Regarding insulation under the hood, maybe take a look at Ricambi's parts guide -- very helpful in determining what has to be disassembled/assembled; and 2) Same thing for me re Slow Down light -- catalytic converter ECUs, plus probes -- and was also around $1000 all in. Frank
Thanks on the slow down reply. I do have bits from a 360 lying around so I will try the swap as Part Nos are the same. The carpet is a mystery and not much help from the parts guide. WIll try again. Have a Happy and safe X mas guys..
Replacing the under hood carpet sound proofing is actually pretty straightforward. I have done it a couple of times. There are a bunch of round plastic push clips that can be pried out gently. Buy several extras in case some of them break or get dropped/lost. They are the cheapest Ferrari part you will ever buy !! As for getting the carpet/insulation over the air intake ports, look closely and you will see that there are 2-3 slits cut into the holes in the insulation that allow some "stretching" of the piece to get it over the flange of the air intake ports. It takes a bit of force to squeeze it over, but it does work. If your new part doesn't have the slits cut, simply do it with a sharp utility knife. It's not a high-precison fit, but be careful not to cut too long a slit so the appearance will remain nice. Mike
As for the slow down light, Eurospares UK has the ECUs at a lower price. Since you are in Hong Kong, this may the way to go, if indeed these are what is causing the light.
Thanks guys. will give it a go. I have 4 spare Ecu's from an older 360 I stripped so that could be an easy check. Worst case scenario is if the actual sensor is busted due to high humidity and lack of use.
