I have tried to find the horn in my car...no luck. It doesnt work at all...actually I can never remember hearing it- ever. Can someone post a picture as to where i can find it...it may be disconnected or needs oil or something...hate it when i press the button and nothing happens. Thanks in advance for any help here.

Trust me on this one, you don't want to hear it. The Maranello horn makes this little squeak that sounds like something a Yugo would make. :)

Besides, remember it is bad luck to fix everything on a Ferrari. You need to leave something broken just to appease the gods of Maranello.

That's the Italian horn sound! I actually like it. My freinds Countach sounds the same.

Ha! Much like English cars and the God of Darkness that lives in the Lucas factory

Why do the English drink warm beer?

    Lucas refrigerators

Why don't the English manufacture computers?

They can't figure out how to make them leak oil

As for your 550 horn, leave it alone. Any time you need to catch someone's attention just depress the clutch and give it some revs.

for a person used to sitting on the horn when need be, it is difficult to drive a car without one. Does anyone know where the darn thing is? Someone told me around the front fender somewhere, but i couldnt find it. Do I have to tear the entire fender to get to it? I dont care what it sounds like, and no, Dr. Who, this car will never be perfect...a Ferrari never can be, so I have other problems that are annoying, but this is the biggest. At this time.

I probably have the same horn in my 456. The actual horns are fed with air generated by a small metal cannister under the hood (looks somewhat like a metal film cannister with two flathead screws in it). The horns (two of them) are located under the center of the front bumper. My two air tubes became disconnected at the horns at some point and quit working. I reattached with a small amount of adhesive and now they work fine (sounds like a 1974 Firat 124).

On right hand drive cars, the horn's air compressor is located near the right front head light. So for US LHD cars you may have it on the left side. You can see the air compressor and hose as pointed by white arrow in picture 1. The actual air horrns are just under the sheet metal so you can not see them from above. If you run your hand along the air hose you'll find where they are. Picture two shows the Y connect to route the compressed air to both horns.

As far as I know all Ferrari air horns & compressor are made by FIAMM. You can buy them in most autopart places for a lot less than what it will cost you from a Ferrari dealer.

As someone else has pointed out, your horns do not work because maybe your air hose got loose. Or maybe the fuse for the air compressor is burnt out. Or maybe the relay for the air compressor is burnt out.

For you sharp eyed F-Chatters you may have noticed wiring going to the grey colored low beam light bulb cover in picture 1. They are for the HID lights I retro fitted to the 550. The electronic ballasts are housed outside of the headlight assembly just out of view in the picture.
