i know this thread has been asleep for a while but I just bought a 550 back from a person that I sold it to 4 yrs ago. Driving it home I averaged 17.4 MPG on a drive from Denver to NJ. So, if you could use 28.8 gallons (keeping a few gallons on the passenger seat) 500 miles is possible!

i thought i was reading this thread as a recent one until i saw the pic of the gas receipt. $1.47 for premium? wow! those were the days!

keeping on the subject, i don't plan to get anywhere near close to empty and chance looking like a fool on the side of the road without gas, but it's nice to know that i don't have to totally freak out when the gas light comes on.... unless things have changed or i have a bad 550!

Speaking of looking like a fool on the side of the road....watch out for nails. There's a reason you have so much trunk space.

Almost all 550's do not have a spare, but it was a factory option.

I've got the spare...and it takes up nearly the whole trunk!
1.29 for gas had me crying over my keyboard....

I do not have a spare. It was an option that was not ordered by many. I have AAA, but have not had to call them....yet :)

Hilarious, this thread is like an old hs yearbook. Blast from the past for sure.
In keeping with the true spirit, I believe we went just shy of 50 highway miles once in the 550 with the light on.
