Hi, I have problem on my 550 when accelerating. It seems like when i step on gas that it does not get fuel or power so it responds very slowly and it goes up to 3-4k rpm max. Also sometimes it shakes when accelerating. My mechanic told me over the phone that spare plugs probably need to be changed, but need to wait until its my turn in his shop. Anyone had similar problem or idea what needs to be done? Thanks Sent from my SM-S901B using FerrariChat.com mobile app
It sounds like you're losing a bank and running on half the cylinders. Is there no check engine light? I don't think spark plugs will help. Could be a fuel supply issue. Does your Euro car have an OBD2 port to check for engine management faults?
No check engine lights, or any other lights just no power when accelerating. Yeah i experienced similar feeling on 850i v12 also worked on half cilinders. Sent from my SM-S901B using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Have you checked the fuel pumps? They're a common failure and trigger this 'limp mode' you're describing. Also, fuel pumps are a shared part with the Kia Rondo, so they're not an expensive fix.
if your car has not had maintenance lately you might do well to check the entire 'fuel / spark' system; meaning, change spark plugs, get your injectors ultrasonically cleaned, check/clean/change your fuel pumps, and change fuel filters. By chance, any difference if you slowly accelerate vs 'slamming the gas'? any issues with cold start or hot start? keep us updated and good luck...
Hello, I own a 550 and had power issues due to the following: - fuel pumps and filters where damaged and blocked due to the fuel pump rubber support that disintegrates with time - faulty relays and overheating fuse board : to prevent this, my advice is to change every relays in the fuse board and outside the fuse board, including those nearby the steering column. Note that for me, at some time, the "slow down" warning message appeared .. I hope this helps
Well problem has been found. Fuel pump rubber fell apart and entered fuel supply. Now everything needs to be taken out and cleaned. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
@FilipZg Ah yes, one of the single most common problems our cars suffer from as they have aged. While you have everything apart you will want to get new teflon pump isolators from Fabio to replace your old deteriorated rubber ones. I would also replace both fuel pumps while you're in there. There is a Bosch fuel pump part number for the Kia Rondo that cross references with the Ferrari part number for the same pump, and is much cheaper. Also, might as well replace the OEM plastic fuel pump assembly mounting plates, which tend to eventually crack & leak, with aftermarket billet aluminum plates from GT Car Parts in AZ. https://www.fiammenghiitalia.com/en/prodotto/petrol-pumps-support/ https://gtcp.com/product/upgraded-aluminum-fuel-pump-mounting-plate-for-ferrari/
