  1. I know....why would I need a radio for my 550 and I agree, but since it is a GT, sometimes you have a wife who cares less about exhaust note....Anyways, the long and short is that I have a 1997 550 with a tape deck original radio with CD box in trunk (never used) and all of the sudden radio simply lost power. I have sent the radio out to a specialist, believe it or not, twice, and there is no found problem/solution.
My goal is to keep the original radio, hoping the issue may be fixed....Is there anyone else out there that has had a similar situation, and resolution. Thanks

Do you mean the radio is dead when it was tested or they didn't find a problem with it on the bench? Usually the original sony radio suffers from a dead microprocessor that is no longer availiable..When it dies the radio is totally dead... Keep in mind if you get another original radio any electrical trama and it could happen again. This is a known problem... My suggestion would be to get a new radio and keep the radio for the next owner...

It's still not AC weather up there. Does your compressor come on? The radio and the AC compressor share the same fuse.

Sometimes a faulty CD changer is the culprit. You've never used yours so this might be the cause.
