    Hello All

i have a 99 Maranello 550, had the car for a year with no slow down lights. Then i installed a capristo mid x pipe and a tubi style back mufflers. After that install i get the red slow down on my screen not every time, when the light pops on the performance of the car is not changed at all. any thoughts on how to make the slow down go away?

    Thanks in advance

I’m not sure why the x-pipe and mufflers would be the case of your slow down light. More probably, your problem is caused by a wonky catalyst thermocouple or by the slow down light control module.

You need to get an OBD scanner connected to see if you have a thermocouple or control module problem, and which side of the car it’s on.

If the scan reveals a fault, you’ll need to replace the thermocouple and module on the side indicated.

    It’s not a difficult job.

I recently did this job on my 575M. I bought a new thermocouple and control module from Technistrada in New Zealand…these parts are supposedly more robust (and cheaper) than the factory parts.

    Good luck,

Above is a photo of the Technistrada control module (mounts under the hood) and the thermocouple (which bolts into the catalytic converter).

Perhaps your thermocouple or its wiring was disturbed during the installation of the new exhaust system?

Just wondering out loud, does Ferrari have a "Speed Up" light?

    Hello Alan

Thank you for all the input. Do you have an OBD you recommend?

Maybe what you said about the thermocouples is right because i don’t always get the slow down and the first week after installing the exhaust system i had no problems at all.

    Bader:

    Here you go:

Foxwell NT710 Bi-directional Scan Tool 2022 New Arrival Upgraded Version of Foxwell NT530 and NT510 Elite × 1
    NT710 With 1 Software
    $229.00

It’s not the most sophisticated and capable OBD reader available (some cost thousands) but it’s perfect for a DIY Ferrari owner.

    Good luck,

Looked at Amazon and Foxwell site for NT710, unclear which software for 550/575.

I use an Autel AL519. Very satisfied with it so far.

Would no speed signal cause all 4 actuators to lock?

Are there any other non-suspension related faults? Power steering issues?

Working in the sense that they move when the car is turned on, but not necessarily when the car is switched between comfort and sport?

I don't know how you'd check the speed input into the Suspension ECU other than checking with an oscilloscope. The speed signal is sent from the dash, through some splices to pin 14 of the yellow plug on the ECU.

Also, the speed signal "fault" may be normal with the car not moving.

I just found this random screenshot of the Ferrari SD1 tool display, showing some similar errors on a F355 (but I don't recall the details)
