My side bolster no longer wind in or out with the knob. The right side of the drivers seat no longer operates; anyone taken a seat apart to fix such and could you give me some tips? Thanks.

Bump on the OP's question re the side bolster adjustment mechanism. My car has the same problem, hope another Fchatter out there has a DIY solution.

I have some stuff on the 575M seats if you think that would help. Slightly different, but mostly the memory is the big difference.

Taz, if it's not too much hassle, yes, please post or email the info. It'll be 100% more info than I have now. FWIW, my car has the daytona seats.

It's a good thing I haven't gained any weight since buying my car several years ago. The side bolsters are adjusted inwards to their tightest positions on both seats, and while I've gotten used to a very snug seating position, any passengers other than my wife (thank goodness!) comment on how tight it is. Would be nice to restore that functionality on the seats.

I had no idea the side bolster was adjustable.

Taz, please post. I have 575 Daytonas :)

Dave, others- I looked and the WSM has basically the same things as the OM on how the seats work, plus how to remove them and how to change the drive motors and ECUs. Nothing on the side bolster or how to repair. Mine does not do much either, but fits me pretty well.

Wonder if this is not a two person job, with one squeezing or pushing apart the bolsters and the other turning the knob.

Right, Terry. The WSM (below) and OM have the same information. The WSM does not describe repairs to the seat mechanisms.

The side bolster control knob (C) is a welcome feature and works smoothly with one hand while sitting in the seat. I've seen seats taken out at Classic Coach for repairs to the adjustment mechanisms. The interior and upholstery technician does that type of work at Classic.

Barry- The 575M WSM has way more detail than the 550 WSM with its Section M (Bodywork), but still does not cover the bolster adjustment repair.

Getting together with some other F owners this weekend here in HK, including a Superamerica and another 550 (whose owner didn't know about the mechanism until I asked if his worked). Will compare and contrast with the other cars, and get another owner to try to push apart the bolsters while I work the adjustment knob. Maybe the bolsters will click back into some sort of worm gear mechanism...

You are always teasing me that I didn't even know the bolster feature exist after owning my 550 for four years...... thanks for letting me know so I can enjoy adjusting it all the time now. ;-)

You better watch out this Saturday - if you rub it in too much that your bolster is functional, I may have to "accidentally" remove and lose the adjustment knob! :)

One on E-Bay today for $47. Quite a bit for a knurled plastic knob.

I have the same problem with the drivers seat. Passenger seat side bolsters are easily adjusted using the knob, but no reaction at all with the drivers seat knob. Although I do not intend to gain weight, I would like everything to work as it should.

Has anyone taken the seat apart and perhaps a step by step description?

I bought my 550 with this problem. I took the seat out of the car (really easy) and took out the center padding. Then it is quite easy to understand how the mechanism Works. Ihad to do 3 Seconds of weld to it and then it was fixed. Most car guys who can unscrew the seat and give it to a person capable of Welding will solve this problem in less than an houre. I doubt I have any Picture of it, but if I find it, I will post it. Good luck.
