Does anyone have knowledge or own a 2001 550, that the shifter pushes out of reverse or 1st particularly when cold ? I have read of issues with earlier model years and 456s although in that article the word " popped" was used regarding this type of issues. Any help, I am all ears, or so to speak .
    Thanx

Cazzodicavallo, you are not in the proper section. Go to specific model section for 550 or in the technical section. You'll have much more answers.

Ralph- Sounds like the linkage needs adjusting, but there is little in the 550 or 575M workshop manual on adjusting except showing 4 mm play right and left.

Has the problem always been present? Or after a fluid change, burnout, abuse etc? It could be even a syncro problem from a previous owner abusing the trans.

I have not adjusted the linkage on a 500/575, but my old 308 was very sensitive to correct alignment. Same symptoms. I'm guessing the 550/575 is similar.

Philip- Affirmative, I adjusted my 308's linkage a couple of times, but seems like the WSM had pretty good instructions, even if it was for a 308 GT4.

2 posts and the OP is already banned?

Linkage needs to be properly aligned front and rear.
