This is what my dealer told me. I have read up on replacing shocks with oem, aftermarket and rebuilds by searching the forum. But I didn't see any mention about having to buy two just to replace one that's gone bad. Can anyone confirm this??? Thanks.

i have not heard of this although may be true. the part number is 162395 and is superceded to part number 1883334. It shows as a single list price for 686.36 and we have a good used one for less if interseted in getting just 1.

Dealer is quoting me almost $900 for one single shock which seems to be in line with other posts I've read. Parts plus labor to replace two shocks would be $4000.00+!!! Dealers, I would guess, don't like installing used parts. I'll keep you in mind. Thanks.

Well, if your shocks are aged and old anyway, it's best to change them in pair. You don't want one brand new shock working with 3 other old ones... the normal practice (for me) is changing them in pair...that includes tires and brake pads also.

If you are looking for a cost-effective solution, have them rebuilt. It will cost you a couple hundred bucks at most from OEM.

If my shocks had gone bad, I'd use that as an opportunity / excuse to upgrade to the FHP setup.
