Anyone has experienced spurious front hood open dash board warnings when driving a 550 at high speeds ?
Desert autobahn stretch on Satruday early morning, cruising at 220km/h, long straight, floor it and at 280km/h+ (about 175mph) the red indicator shows up on the dash. Needless to say I backed off, but the hood was fully latched.

I have always had the visual impression that the hood of the 550 is a bid wobbly, but that kind of warning is a bit worrying. Any clue ?

Yep, happened to me. Your latch switch and hood latch need adjusting. Dealer should be able to do this.
Nothing raises bloodpressure like fearing a hood blowover @ 160+. Especially when hoods are $14Kusd.

I believe that it may be due to how you close your hood. On my porsche I let it down all the way them push on it at the very end, but on the 550 you need to drop the hood from 12-18"s and then it will close fully and properly. Try that first, it worked for me.

I have not had my warning light come on, but the hood sure does buffet up and down at speeds above 150. At first I thought it was light relecting off the hood but upon closer examinion it appears to be the aluminum flexing up and down about i foot in front of the windshield.
I never slam my hood down though, I lay it all the way down softly and then just push it down closed with my palms.
