I've just got my car back from nearly two weeks of investigation work to find and solve a problem with the suspension and thought I'd share it as it seems an unusual one and I wonder if others might have suffered the same.

Ever since I got my car two years ago - 1998 550 that came with full Ferrari warranty - I've thought it had a slight tendancy to oversteer but I got used to driving it that way, including on tracks. This year though, two experienced racers who've been in the car have independantly said they suspect a problem with rear suspension.

I asked for it to be checked during a trackday prep but they found no problem. Eventually I took it to a specialist and when they fully tested the car they found both rear units not functioning correctly. Signals from the ECU were fine but the units weren't responding. Anyway cutting two weeks down to a few lines it turned out that there was no fault with the actuators or suspension units either, they just weren't talking to eachother. The garage disconnected and then reconnected and recommissioned the system as if it were fitting new and it all worked perfectly. Only cost was labour. Ferrari were not familiar with the problem and suggested the system may have been previously disconnected or the battery taken out for a prolonged period in the past.

The car is driving like a dream. I thought it was good before but now it's just perfect.

Anyone else come across such a problem.

    Steve
