Before you say it -I already did a search and couldn't find what I need. Does anyone have any pictures of the job or even better a step by step description?? We've done a TR and several 355-360s. Gonna have a go at my 550 while the shop is slow this week. any help will be appreciated.
Then this 550 cam belt job will be a walk in the park for you then. No engine out job so should be a breeze mate. Dont have any step by step guides. Looks very very easy IMO. Probably only a couple of hours in it if you ask me. Remove thermo fans/shrouds and top radiator hoses. Then remove belts and minor accesories out of the way. Cam covers off and theres your belt. Here is a pic that may help you out a little. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a 1999, 550 and thinking of changing the timing belt. took a mechanic course with some information. I need some step by step guide to change the belt. second how difficult is removing the manifold to reach and change the large coolant hose. and after instalation of manifold and conecting the accelarator cable do I need to tune the engine. Thanks.
When you remove the intake just unclip the throttle cable from underneath. Keep it connected to the throttle bosy and no need to tune anything.
Firstly, be sure you have no cam cover gasket or cam seal leaks that require attention... If you're 100% happy with it all, belts only can be changed quite easily... about 4-6 hours...
There you go. Spoken from someone who has done a few. I thought there would only be a few hours in it. Looks rather easy.
There are some posts in th 550/575 forum about the three hoses under the manifold that need attention. If you haven't had those done yet, and "while you're in there" you might consider r/r'ing them.
