I've posted this in the technical section as well.
I am currently looking for new tires for my 550, but am having problems sourcing fronts in 255/40/18. Seems that only the Pirelli P Zero's are available, with all the new (PS2 and PZero Corsa for example) still being either unavailable or a long way off. Has anyone tried running a 265/35 on the front? This gives a 2.5% smaller rolling diameter, so I was wondering if it would effect ABS or stability control systems.
The situation is worse with R spec tires, with nothing at all available in Australia in the factory sizes.

I just replace four tires with Pilots. It was hard to get the correct front size.

I'm looking for something a little sticker than the S03, also it is a fairly noisy tire compared to the Pirelli and Michelins. Ideally a set of PZero Corsas, Michelin Cups or Pilot Sport 2's as a last option.

Understandable. I have used S03's as a dry/rain tire with great success...got me through what was a rainy hell up in the NE USA a few weeks back. I even managed ok on snow with them in terms of control....although I had no braking to speak of at the time. :)

So as you can imagine I swear by them for a summer driver. I guess if you never see rain though, it is a waste.

From what I've read, the PS2 is as good in the wet, but even better in the dry than the S03.
However only the S02, Pilot Sport and P Zero Rosso are available for the Maranello. It's the 255/40/18 front which appears to be the problem fitment, hence my question about trying a different size.

Interesting, I used to have Pilot Sport '1s' and they were a great comfortable tire. If Bridgestone do not have any new 'SO' when I am buying in the future I will get a PS2 (assuming I can get the size) and try it out. Thanks for the tip.
