?

Is it too low, too high or just right?

  1. Front too low, raise it a little

  2. Back too high, lower it a little

  3. You are an idiot Jeffrey and are just seeing things! It's just right.

I just had the 550 lowered and corner balanced. Since I am such an anal individual I cannot help but think that the front and back are not even. Understandably, "stock" 550s show a forward rake where the rear is slightly higher than the front. Supposedly this has something to do with handling under hard acceleration. It is not necessarily the most pleasing look visually but I am sure Ferrari did this for a reason.

I realize the purists will blast me for messing with the highly engineered suspension settings but since I am not Mario Andretti and have no plans to emulate him I feel confident that whatever I do will remain within Ferrari's safety margins. Thus I am going more for appearances versus recommended factory settings.

My question is this. Is the front too low and needs to be raised? Is the back too high and needs to be lowered. Or am I simply an anal idiot that is seeing something that is not there and should leave well enough alone?

Pardon the ignorance, but did you just swap in new springs, or is the 550 more sophisticated than that?

Most springs take a week or so to settle in..

The 550 has coilovers like the 360 which are fully adjustable.

I voted that its just right!! I can see what your are seeing though jeffrey, it is higher in the back, but i still think it looks good that way. The way it slopes up seems to make the car look more sporty, IMO.

But Jeffrey, its your car, do as you wish, if it bugs you than by all means change it to your needs. But I think the poll says it all :)

To find your answer, I guess you need to know how it handles at 180MPH.

    Otherwise, It's baby Bear porridge...

I think it looks great as it is.

Unless it is driving in a way that you are unhappy with I would leave it just like that. I wouldn't want it any lower than that and any higher would look a bit off IMO. I like the slight rake too.

Most cars look good with a "forward rake". Notice that most of the German sedans come that way, like my new A6.

    Your car looks terrific!

Remember the days when someone decided that raising the front and dropping the rear would provide better weight transfer under heavy acceleration? Thankfully that concept went away.

Damn Jeffrey, you sure work fast. So in the two weeks you have owned the car you have new rims, corner balancing and lowering done already. Wow, impressive. I love the rims, really dresses the car nicely. Lowering looks correct to me. My car is lowered about 3/8" which tucks it down nicely and still leaves me enough clearance for speed bumps. Which car is coming up next week?
