Has anyone got any data on times at Sandown, Winton and Phillip Island? I've done some searching and could only come up with the following; Winton Syd Lowe 1.48 Sandown Allan Micheal 1.37 Phillip Island Allan Michael 1.58 I can't believe these times are representative of the track potential of the car. What times have some reasonable drivers achieved on these tracks? As an example Winton yesterday was so wet, that in the first session everyone was struggling to break 2 minutes. In the first dry session, I pulled a 1:45 then a 1:42 in the second, by which time the day had ended. This was my first time in a car at the track and I was hoping to beat a 1:40, which unfortunately didn't happen, but given some more track time, am confident of achieving it. At Sandown on Friday just passed I was lapping a consistent 1.27 negotiating traffic, to be fair, I had been there before with Allan Simonsen as an instructor.
definetly can't be ... very slow times in fact. I was doing 1:47 (and was very unhappy with that time, damn FWD) at Winton in an Integra Type R (stock), and 2:00 at PI. I remember going to PI with the Maserati club one day and there was a guy with a 550. I would fly past him on the straigh even... shame to have such a fast car and poddle it around like that! Have you tried RaceTime.com.au? PS. That's a 1.8l Integra (2000 model, with 2 round headlights). Amazing handling and speed for a 1.8 tho! For any track trainees, I highly recommend it. In well over 1000 laps, I only managed to spin it 3 times, and by those times (inc 1.15 at Wakefield) you can see that I wasn't holding back too much).
Lindsay Hughes 550 Maranello 21 1:19.36 @Wakefield where 1:10s would be considered good. But I thought you V12 guys used a calendar ?
I'd want a V12 (modern) just for the huge torque available above 200kph, they are just bloody incredible, too bad they don't stop from continual high speeds...how many laps do you get out of yours before the brakes (or the American spelling - breaks ) give out ? and does the front end lose (or American spelling - loose ) it after a few as well ? Never been around a track in anything but V8s so have no idea but had a CLOSE look at a Queen Mary in Adelaide as it locked up trying to stay ahead of me
At the moment I have upgraded to Pagid RS19 pads and SRF fluid. I tried RS4-2's and they were only good for 5 laps at Sandwon, the new setup does 10 laps easily at Sandown and Winton at my pace. Ultimately it needs a big brake kit. Handling through medium and fast turns is excellent. When going too fast into slower corners, or if tyre temps are too hot, it does start to push, but power oversteer is always an option, even in 160kmh+ sweepers. Ultimately the car just needs to lose 200Kg and it would be unbeatable by the V8's.
I think the seats are 40kg each so there's a good start CCB reduce it by another 50kg chuck out aircon (he weighs 80kg ) ditch the <boom boom> stereo 10kg take the speeding tickets out the glovebox 5kg add one NOS bottle 6kg
Front and rear bars, bonnet and boot lid in CF. Seats changed to Ferrari sports, and exhaust system updated, total saving approx 200kg. See Ryalex Design, a sponsor on the board.
