Do you really think its Allan who's posting? Sure sounds like him (anti-550,612) but remember he hates his F355.

what is your problem 355/350?...who cares!?...a ferrari is a ferrari...lets leave it @ that. And by the way.....its not like you'll drive the car like they did on that 456 destruction video.

i would prefer the 550. more understated and gentlemen like. the 550 is enough of an "extro" car than an "intro" car.

550 is faster than 355 and 360 in a straight line and a race track. Checkout times around Hockenheim and Nuerburgring.
BTW 0.5sec difference in the 1/4 mile is like 10 car lengths.
What is the point of your trolling?

Come on, a guy with a Ferrari bragging about beating up on another Ferrari. Thats like beating up your brother and telling everyone about it. Nobody is impressed by it.

Ok, aside from the roadkill and crap, got a question.
Why is that 550 depreciates alot it seems? I mean, you prolly can pick up a '98 for abit over 100k, that's half of the price new. The V8's like F355 and F360 re-sells much better, why is that?

An even better question would be "Why is the Vanquish, one of the 550's direct competitors, holding nearly 85% of its MSRP after two years while the 575M is falling like the asteroid from Armageddon into the sub-60% area?"

The answer is easy, the 550/575M aren't desirable cars to those that are beyond still having Daytona wet dreams in their 50s, and they are far too conservatively styled to appeal to someone below age 35.

From some angles the fricken car looks like something made by GM for god's sakes. I don't think anyone ever confused the Testarossa with a Camaro, that's for damn sure. Hopefully the next one will be more pleasing to the eye.

Agreed, except that I'm 22 and put ~1200 miles / month on mine.

The 550 isn't a bad car, its interior is the best of all F-cars with the exception of the 612 perhaps (that ugly beast's only good quality). And its used price tag makes it attractive for sure, but I wouldn't choose it over a 911 Turbo at the same price by a long shot.

If it were a 2+2 then I could accept it more for those that seem hell bent on turning their Ferrari into a family car, but for it to be a two seater and be less compelling than a 360, I question why it exists at all.

It is the only Ferrari you can use as a daily driver, additionally aside from being quicker, being more understated is a bonus for those who don't wish to beat their chest and have a car that says "look at me".

How much is a F355 new? I saw an eBay car with window sticker, seems to be in 130's, I will buy a '98 for 65k-70k in a heart beat, but I doubt it is that cheap.

    In Aust a 575 costs $610K AUD (about $440K USD) on road. A secondhand Maranello '98-'01 is 280-400K. A 360 is 430K on road and a secondhand '96-'99 355 is 150-200K

From the wholesale prices I listed above, which cars are selling at retail for, I might add, because of the weakness in the local Ferrari market at the moment.
EDIT: I should have said they are selling for 1/2 the price of their replacement, not their original cost. The 550's are actually holding 70-80% of their value against cost while the 355's are around 50-60%.

in my opinion, i believe that the 550/575 is cooler than the other, im 16 and i would like to have a 550/575 anyday over a 355. but i havent had a ride in any of them so i cant comment on the feel of it. but since i see so many 355s and i only see 550s in the showroom the 550 becmes more desireable for me. whatever this is my opinion

Targa has better resale, but that is still stupid money, even with extremely low k's. As you can see from the selling price range, this is way over the odds.

For those who think that its me posting.. its not. I dont hate my 355, i just like some other cars more. if i only had a 355, id love it.

A 550, is a quicker car than a 355, all day long. If you beat one, he couldnt drive.

I think you should prove ownership of your 355 for us.
