Like the thread says, do 550 wheels fit the 430?

Looking at picking up an aftermarket set, but they are off a 550.

No sure of the offsets/bolt pattern etc.

Thank You. I did search, but did not find anything. According to that word doc, they do fit fine. However the wheels I was looking at sold.

CJ- Have not looked at this in detail, although I know someone who sells new sets for $1200. He found the mother lode.

Here is a list of Ferrari wheels and offsets I put together and you can look and decide for yourself how closely they match. Since the 9Jx19" and 12.5Jx19" Novitecs fit both the 360/F430 and Maranellos, with 25 mm spacers on the rear for the Maranello, there is a good chance they will fit.

Big question is why you would want to replace 19" F430 wheels with 18" Maranello wheels? The 19" 575 modular wheels are the most expensive used OEM wheels out there, with sets bringing up to $8K.

    ^^^

Thanks so much for the detailed write up. I was looking at an aftermarket set of 550 wheels, and wasn't sure if they would be a bolt on to the F430. I figured if they fit a 550 they would mount onto a F430. By the time I got to ask offsets, the wheels were gone anyway.

None-the-less I was not looking to put on OEM 550 wheels on my 430.

And your other thread that was linked above was very helpful as well; I saved a word doc. with the information onto my desktop for future reference.

    Cheers,
    CJ

Its interesting to note that not only are Ferrari body dimensions increasing but so are wheel sizes. As everyone knows, bigger wheels means more weight so I wonder how Ferrari justifies this? I can only imagine bigger wheels are a styling choice and serve no performance advantages?

So based on the above can you guys advise on whether the 19" 575M modulars would fit the 360?

    Thank you.

Dan- Affirmative, they should fit and are an inch wider in front and 1/2 inch in the rear.

F1- The Superamericas came standard with 19" wheels and 20"ers were an option on all late model Ferraris with 114.3 mm bolt spacing (612 on) that did not have them OEM.

In your experience, would it be possible to tell the stance and if looks correct with the different offsets? Would the wheels stick out or in more? I notice there are different offsets but the widths are different as well...

    Thanks.

Dan- The easiest way to visualize it is to make yourself a small drawing with the OEM wheels and offsets and then draw the new wheels and offsets on top of it.

    Wheel Offset

Offset is the distance from a wheel's mounting surface on the hub to the centerline of the wheel, in millimeters. Negative offset means the mounting surface is towards the inside of the wheel. With positive offset, this surface is biased towards the outside. Typically, wider tires require more positive offset to avoid contact on the inner fender well.

Ok, so let's see...now that you called me out on it and I have to do the math :)

    Fronts:

360 -- 7.5" with 31.5 mm, 575 -- 8.5" with 43.6 mm, so the difference of 1" (25.4 mm) is roughly balanced on both sides of the wheel (since the offset of 43.6 - 31.5 = 12.1 mm is about half of 25.4 mm).

So a front 575 wheel on the 360 will stick out about 0.5".

    Rears:

360 -- 10" with 38.95 mm, 575 -- 10.5" with 32 mm, so in this case we have a wider rim by 0.5" = 12.7 mm which is recessed by about half that (38.95 - 32 = 6.95 mm). So the rear will stick out about 0.25"

All in all looks like a non issue -- question is -- does anybody have a picture of this setup on the 360? :)

    Thanks.

Dan- Probably not, since you have chosen the most expensive used wheel set for Ferraris. The 19" modulars fit the 456, 456M, 550, 575M, and Superamerica and used sets bring $6K to $8K.

Ever think of fitting F430 or Scuderia wheels to her? They all look great on a 360 and are very reasonable. A set of F430 5/10 spoke wheels just sold here for $2200 and they look even better on the 360 than they do on the F430.

Good job on the math and you came to the correct conclusion.

Right now I'm just contemplating this for the future since it looks like the 18" wheels are starting to look 'small' on the car...however, I think the same wheels in 19" would be nicer...

Regardless, at that used $ per set, there'd be no way to do it -- I'm not crazy about the F430 wheels but the Scuderia ones are very nice. There are a bunch of other options but thanks for setting me straight with the 575M 19" :)
